The well-known slogan “Workers of the world unite” means what it says. It does not mean “Only workers with the correct immigration status unite”

Solidarity with Amey / NPL cleaners at appeal hearing

Together with supporters they mounted a colourful solidarity picket outside, and spoke to many NPL staff as they left work.

Precarious Work and the Struggle for Migrant Workers' Rights

A public talk and discussion organised by London NoBorders, Campaign against Immigration Controls and the Latin American Workers Association
Sunday November 16th, 5.30pm, Pullens Centre, SE17 3AE

Three months ago five Colombian cleaners working for Amey Plc at the
National Physical Laboratory were suspended for daring to criticise Amey
for putting an excessive workload onto ever fewer staff, for
unilaterally changing terms and conditions and for disrespecting
grievance procedures. The five have since been sacked.

The case of Amey Plc seems to be typical of the working condidtions
many migrant workers face in the UK and the profit companies make from their precarious situation. In our talk we will hear from workers
involved in those struggles and activists supporting them what their
experiences are to organise and what the perspectives of such self
organised struggles could be.

Demonstrate in Solidarity with Tubecleaners, October 15th

AT MAYOR'S QUESTION TIME ON WEDNESDAY 15TH OCTOBER, CITY HALL, 10AM-11AM Meet outside City Hall (by the river between London Bridge and Tower Bridge).

The Mayor is the chair of Transport for London. At Mayor's Questions in
July, he smugly promised that Metronet cleaners would receive a living
wage by August. Not only did this not happen until two months later
(and then patchily), but even while he was announcing it, racist
immigration laws were being used to clamp down on union activists and
members.
